Stake Responsible Gambling
Promoting a responsible approach to risk-gaming for all customers across our platform and community remains a core priority at Stake. We strive to ensure that our customers are informed about the various responsible gambling tools available, view gaming as entertainment, and are empowered to make conscious decisions regarding their gaming activity.
6 Tips for Effective Control Over Gambling
- Effectively control your gambling activity by prioritizing other forms of leisure as well.
- Before you start gambling, make a plan of how much you want to spend on gambling and how long you will play.
- Do not spend more than you can afford to lose.
- Understand the odds and be aware of the risks associated with gambling.
- Identify when you are no longer having fun or when gambling has become a problem for you, and stop.
- Set loss limits and wager limits to manage your gambling activity.
Understanding the Odds
There are many myths and misconceptions about gambling. Understanding the odds allows for a more realistic assessment of the chances of winning. Stake offers two products: Casino and Sportsbook. Both products have different odds and winning probabilities that players should be aware of to better understand the risks.
House Edge/Margin
Games feature a house edge, which is the percentage of total bets returned to the house (in this case, Stake).
Randomness
Every gambling game includes an element of randomness: it is impossible to control the outcome of a casino game or a sporting event.
Independent Outcomes
Games/spins are not connected to one another. Their outcomes do not depend on the funds spent or the duration of your play.
Odds and Probabilities
Odds and probability are criteria describing the chances of winning. Although betting odds may seem low, there is no certainty in them.
Introducing Our Responsible Gaming Tools
Gambling should always be a form of entertainment. To help you enjoy gambling, Stake offers a range of responsible gambling tools that you can use at any time.
Gaming Limits
To help you stay in control of your bankroll and time spent playing, we provide customizable account controls that can be adjusted at any time.
Loss Limit
A loss limit allows you to set a cap on the amount you can afford to lose over a specific period. Limits can be set for one day, one week, or one month. This is a net loss limit. Profits made during the set period are not considered when calculating the limit. If you make a profit during the specified period, you may use your profit to continue placing bets until you reach your loss limit. Unsettled bets count towards the limit. If you cannot place a bet, check your unsettled bets, as they might cause the limit to be exceeded.
Wager Limit
A wager limit allows you to set a cap on the amount you can afford to stake over a specific period. A maximum wager limit can be set for one day, one week, or one month. The limit is not net, so profits are excluded. This means that if you make a profit during this period, it is not deducted from your maximum wager limit. To increase or decrease limits, you must remove existing limits and create new ones. After removing limits, 24 hours must pass before you can create a new limit.
Indefinite Exclusion
In the event of an indefinite exclusion, access to your account will be blocked until you submit an active request to revoke it. An indefinite exclusion requires a minimum exclusion period of at least 6 months from the time of application. After the 6-month period, your account may be restored following an official review of your return to play. To initiate the review process, please contact our customer support team.
Take a Break
If you want to temporarily pause your gambling activity — whether to reassess your goals, save funds, or take a break from betting — Stake offers a “Take a Break” feature.
Available timeframes for temporary account deactivation:
- 1 day
- 1 week
- 1 month
- 2 months
- 3 months
How to apply self-exclusion to your account:
- Go to the Stake Smart – Self-Exclusion page.
- Select the “Request Self-Exclusion” option in the bottom right corner.
- Choose your desired self-exclusion period from the drop-down list.
- Click “Next” to continue.
- Confirm your decision by clicking the “Confirm” button.
Closing an Account on Stake
Stake provides the option to close your account at your request. This may be for various reasons – for example, if gambling is no longer enjoyable for you or for other personal reasons unrelated to gambling problems. To close your account, you must submit a request to Support via live chat or email. Important to note: once an account is closed, Stake will restrict your access to:
- Your account;
- Receiving bonuses and promotional offers.
Reactivating a Closed Account
If you wish to reopen your account, you must submit an official written request via live chat or email. At least 24 hours must pass from the moment of account closure before it can be reopened. In some cases, Stake may conduct an internal review before making a decision on reactivation. Important: Stake reserves the right to close a customer’s account at any time at its sole discretion.
Support Organizations
If you believe that you or someone you know is experiencing gambling problems, you can seek help from specialized organizations:
- Gamblers Anonymous
- Gambling Therapy
- National Council on Problem Gambling The National Council on Problem Gambling provides a range of resources, including answers to frequently asked questions, gambling behavior self-assessments, treatment information, and a national helpline to get assistance in your area.
- Gamtalk Gamtalk provides information on helplines, treatment, and online resources from organizations worldwide aimed at helping those struggling with gambling addiction.
Minors
Stake does not permit underage play. Participation in gambling by minors (i.e., individuals who have not reached 18 years of age at the time of account registration) is illegal. We do not make payouts to underage players.
Tips for Parents
- Do not leave a computer running casino software unattended.
- Password-protect such software.

- Keep your casino account and payment card details out of reach of minors.

Gambling Blocking Tools
There are applications for blocking gambling websites that help limit access to gambling portals as a protective measure to stay safe or, in some cases, prevent the risk of minors engaging in gambling:
- Betblocker
- Netnanny: Netnanny offers various protection measures ranging from website and app blocking to parental controls.
- Gamblock: Gamblock is a mobile app that blocks access to thousands of gambling websites and provides access to useful resources.
